This weekend there is a very special event going on in our hometown of Milton Keynes. The members of the Milton Keynes Rowing Club will be trying to beat a world record. Starting on Saturday morning in the centre of Xscape, 50 club members will be rowing continuously for a total of 50 hours on rowing machines provided by the Nuffield gym, in celebration of MK’s 50th Birthday. Directly after the row the team will be running the MK Half Marathon whilst carrying the boat they use. All to raise funds to improve their clubs’ facilities as well as for Macmillan Cancer Research. The ladies of the club are hoping to break a world record for the furthest distance rowed in a 24 hour period, currently standing at 170 miles! If you are in the area or visiting Xscape over the weekend give the ladies a cheer and donate what you can for this great cause.
